Aubrey Kim
CFS Case Manager
Hello everyone, my name is Aubrey! I recently graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where I proudly earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology as a first-generation college student. My passion for uplifting under served communities is deeply rooted in both personal and professional experiences.
I was raised by a resilient single mother while navigating the challenges of poverty, parental addiction, and mental illness. These early life experiences opened my heart to the importance of empathy, advocacy, and human connection. I later moved in with my grandparents and gained valuable experience supporting elderly individuals with mental disabilities. These moments helped shape my understanding of compassion, patience, and the different ways love can show up in care.
Professionally, I’ve spent over seven years in customer service, building strong communication skills and learning how to meet people where they are with grace and respect. I’ve also worked at Joaquin Miller Transitional School, a center for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and participated in Youth and Government, where I discovered my passion for advocacy and policy reform. My time at the Santa Barbara Mental Wellness Center further deepened my commitment to mental health support, particularly for those affected by substance use and trauma.
All of these experiences led me to my current role as a Coordinated Family Support Case Manager at Self Determined Futures. Here, I strive to lead with love, build authentic relationships, and support individuals and families in living to their fullest and highest potential. I show up every day with a heart for service and a commitment to being a consistent, compassionate presence for those I work with. My goal is to genuinely contribute to the betterment of lives and to always be a source of support, empowerment, and hope.
Thanks!
Aubrey
