Evelyn Sanchez
ILS Specialist/CFS Case Manager
Hi, my name is Evelyn Perez Sanchez. I am eager to be a part of the Self Determined Futures team. Born and raised in San Diego, I recently graduated from San Diego State University with a BA in Psychology.
My passion for helping others started when I first became a Registered Behavior Technician. I had the honor to work with families one-on-one with children with disabilities and support families in meaningful ways. It was a wonderful experience being able to help these families set goals and future plans that were best fit for them. I learned the best way a child can learn and be their best self starts at home and the people around them. While some days were challenging, I never gave up when it came to meeting a goal and attempting something new. It always put a smile on my face when I saw their progress and how much they were growing and learning. Even with the smallest amount of progress, I made sure they knew how great they were doing. I strive for connection, building trust and offering the support I can give.
Coming from a low-income community, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful the right resources are and the difference it can make to families that are struggling. I carry the understanding with me in everything I do, and I am committed to helping families navigate such challenges and find the right resources for them. My experiences working in clinical, school and community settings has brought me to where I am now, and has peaked my passion for helping others.
Outside of work, I enjoy listening to music, going to concerts, playing tennis, going to local farmers markets, trying new food and experiences. I truly value family and enjoy spending time with my siblings, they have a special place in my heart and I hope to be a role model for them.
