Hello, I’m Gibar Colin, the Santa Barbara Team Lead at Self Determined Futures. I am fortunate to combine my background in business, leadership, and program development with my passion for helping others. Throughout my career, I have been fascinated by the intersection of psychology, program management, finance, and organizational leadership. I am committed to using these disciplines to empower diverse populations and support individuals in strengthening their cognitive, social, and life skills. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Franklin University and am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in Human Resources. Over the past eight years, I have worked in the nonprofit sector, serving in a variety of roles focused on finance, project development, administration, and community engagement. My professional journey began with a local nonprofit organization in Santa Maria, California, where I gained valuable experience in financial management, program development, marketing, fundraising, and data analysis. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects that required strategic planning, collaboration, and innovative problem-solving. These experiences have allowed me to work closely with diverse sectors of the community while helping organizations achieve meaningful and sustainable growth. As my career evolved, I became increasingly aware of the importance of providing quality services and support to individuals with disabilities and their families. This realization inspired me to dedicate my efforts to creating programs and services that foster independence, inclusion, and opportunity. I am naturally curious, dependable, resourceful, and driven. I take pride in using my skills to improve existing programs, develop new initiatives, and support organizational growth. I am equally passionate about mentoring team members, collaborating with colleagues, and finding effective solutions to complex challenges. Outside of work, I enjoy giving back to the community through volunteer service. In my free time, I enjoy visiting local animal shelters, playing video games, and continuously learning new skills and topics that help me grow both personally and professionally.
