Ericka L

Team Lead

My name is Ericka, and I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Santa Barbara, California. I now reside in a charming small beach town where cars are optional, and the close-knit community reminds me daily of the importance of connection, service, and belonging.

Helping others has always been my life's purpose. I am passionate about meeting individuals where they are, recognizing their unique strengths, and creating personalized plans that help bridge the gap between their current circumstances and the future they envision. I am especially committed to supporting individuals and families navigating mental health and substance use challenges, believing that everyone deserves compassionate, equitable, and effective care.

As a bilingual and multicultural professional, I am deeply committed to diversity, equity, and cultural humility, ensuring every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered. I bring more than 16 years of experience in operations, administration, and human services, along with over a decade of leadership and management experience, including serving as an Interim Executive Director. Throughout my career, I have led multidisciplinary teams, managed operations, finances, human resources, and strategic initiatives while fostering cultures built on integrity, accountability, respect, collaboration, and inclusion. As a bilingual and multicultural professional, I am deeply committed to diversity, equity, and cultural humility, ensuring every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered.

My educational journey reflects my dedication to lifelong learning. I earned three associate degrees from Santa Barbara City College, including Psychology, Liberal Arts, and Addictive Disorders, and later earned my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from California State University Channel Islands. I have also completed extensive coursework in business and finance, along with numerous professional certifications that strengthen my leadership and administrative expertise.

What inspires me most about psychology is the opportunity to understand human behavior and help people build healthier relationships, greater resilience, and lasting self-worth. My philosophy is simple: when you teach someone to fish, you feed them for a lifetime. Empowering others with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to thrive is the most meaningful work I can do.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my family, caring for my three pets, gardening, crocheting, and woodworking. One of my proudest personal accomplishments was designing and building my own dream kitchen, a project that reflects my creativity, determination, and love of learning new skills.
